Why specify Fluorosilicone for gaskets?

Fluorosilicone (FVMQ) is the specification when an application needs the broad temperature range of silicone but cannot tolerate silicone's susceptibility to oils, fuels, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Properties of Fluorosilicone gaskets

Cannon Gasket cuts Fluorosilicone gaskets to your drawing in durometer and thickness specifications of 10A to 90A Shore hardness. Excellent resistance to fuels and oils, with moderate resistance to aromatic and chlorinated solvents. Retains flexibility across extreme temperature swings.

Fluorosilicone tolerances and customization

Standard dimensional tolerances on Fluorosilicone gasketsland around ±0.010" to ±0.015" on OD and ID, depending on material durometer and thickness. Tighter tolerances are available on select grades. Cannon Gasket cuts Fluorosilicone to custom profiles in-house and matches lead times to your production volume. PSA backing, pad printing, custom packaging, and kitting are all on the menu when you need them.

How Fluorosilicone Performs in Fuel and Solvent Contact

- Resistant to fuels, oils, aromatic hydrocarbons, and oxidizing chemicals where silicone would swell or degrade. - Effective against ozone, aromatic chlorinated solvents, and bases. - Retains the flexibility and broad thermal range of silicone.

Where Fluorosilicone Gaskets Are Specified

Aerospace fuel and hydraulic systems, aviation seals, defense hardware, semiconductor processing, and applications where silicone's temperature range is needed alongside chemical resistance.

When to Choose Another Material

If chemical contact is not a factor, silicone is the more economical specification. If temperature is below 250°F and oils are present, Buna-N is more cost-effective.
