Why specify Non-Asbestos for gaskets?

When equipment built before the asbestos transition needs replacement gaskets, the modern specification is compressed non-asbestos fiber (CNAF). Cannon Gasket cuts custom non-asbestos gaskets to your existing flange drawings or to samples of legacy gaskets pulled from service.

Properties of Non-Asbestos gaskets

Cannon Gasket cuts Non-Asbestos gaskets to your drawing in durometer and thickness specifications of 0.016" to 0.250" thickness. Strong resistance to heat, pressure, and a broad range of industrial chemicals including oils, fuels, steam, and dilute acids/bases.

Non-Asbestos tolerances and customization

Standard dimensional tolerances on Non-Asbestos gasketsland around ±0.010" to ±0.015" on OD and ID, depending on material durometer and thickness. Tighter tolerances are available on select grades. Cannon Gasket cuts Non-Asbestos to custom profiles in-house and matches lead times to your production volume. PSA backing, pad printing, custom packaging, and kitting are all on the menu when you need them.

How Non-Asbestos Sheet Performs

- Aramid or synthetic fibers bound by elastomer — replaces asbestos in pressure, temperature, and chemical compatibility. - Pressure capability into the hundreds of psi (grade dependent). - Available in grades engineered for steam, hydrocarbons, water, and chemical service.
