- FDA compliant grades
- Medical grade (USP VI)
- AS568 standard sizes
Why specify Silicone for o-rings?
Silicone is the elastomer for extreme-temperature O-ring service, with an outstanding range of approximately -50°F to +500°F (compound dependent). FDA-approved and medical-grade silicone compounds are available for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and medical device applications. Silicone is the default for cryogenic, high-temperature, or food-contact O-rings. Available in commercial, high-grade, FDA and medical, and extreme-temperature grades.
Properties of Silicone o-rings
Cannon Gasket cuts Silicone o-rings to your drawing in durometer and thickness specifications of 10A to 80A Shore hardness. Excellent resistance to ozone, UV, weathering, and water. FDA and USP Class VI grades available. Poor resistance to petroleum oils and fuels.
Silicone tolerances and customization
Standard dimensional tolerances on Silicone o-ringsland around ±0.010" to ±0.015" on OD and ID, depending on material durometer and thickness. Tighter tolerances are available on select grades. Cannon Gasket cuts Silicone to custom profiles in-house and matches lead times to your production volume. PSA backing, pad printing, custom packaging, and kitting are all on the menu when you need them.
How Silicone O-Rings Perform
- Service temperature -50°F to +500°F. - Retains flexibility at cryogenic temperatures without becoming brittle. - Good resistance to ozone, UV, and many polar fluids. - FDA and medical-grade compounds available.
AS568 Standard Sizes and Custom
Full AS568 range in standard silicone. Specialty platinum-cured grades on request for medical applications.
Where Silicone O-Rings Are Specified
