Why specify Kapton for plastic washers?

Kapton® is DuPont's polyimide film, the gold standard for thin-gauge high-temperature electrical insulation. Cannon Gasket die-cuts custom Kapton washers and spacers for aerospace electronics, motor and transformer insulation, flexible printed circuits, and high-temperature applications where mil-spec or aerospace performance is required.

Properties of Kapton plastic washers

Cannon Gasket cuts Kapton plastic washers to your drawing in durometer and thickness specifications of N/A (polyimide film). Virtually inert to all organic solvents, acids, and oils. Inherently flame retardant (UL 94 V-0). Excellent radiation resistance.

Kapton tolerances and customization

Standard dimensional tolerances on Kapton plastic washersland around ±0.010" to ±0.015" on OD and ID, depending on material durometer and thickness. Tighter tolerances are available on select grades. Cannon Gasket cuts Kapton to custom profiles in-house and matches lead times to your production volume. PSA backing, pad printing, custom packaging, and kitting are all on the menu when you need them.

How Kapton Performs

- Continuous service from -452°F to +752°F (extraordinarily wide range). - Excellent dielectric strength — premium electrical insulator. - Available in thicknesses from 0.0005" (HN-50) to 0.005" (HN-500) and thicker. - Resistant to most solvents, oils, and high-temperature aging. - HN, FN (FEP-coated), and CR (corona-resistant) grades available.

Manufacturing Methods
