Tool Room.

To ensure the highest level of quality and the fastest possible lead times, we maintain a fully equipped, in-house tool room. By designing and building all of our own dies on-site, we eliminate the delays associated with third-party tool makers and maintain total control over the precision of every punch and die set we use.

Quick facts about Tool Room
  1. A tool room is an in-house machine shop where a manufacturer designs and builds its own dies and tooling on-site instead of relying on third-party tool makers.
  2. In-house tooling supports complex die components, tight-tolerance compound dies, hardened tool steel dies, quick-turn prototypes, and die sharpening or repair during high-volume production.
  3. Our tool room runs multiple lathes, mills, and surface grinders plus EDM and in-house heat treating, so we control die precision and can return tooling to the press within hours.

Capabilities

Benefits of our in-house tooling.

Having an integrated machine shop allows us to react quickly to design changes and maintain our equipment to peak standards:

Comprehensive Machining Center. Our tool room is outfitted with multiple lathes, mills, and surface grinders. This allows us to manufacture and maintain complex die components.

EDM Precision. We utilize an EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) machine to cut extremely intricate shapes and hard materials with surgical accuracy. This capability is essential for creating the tight-tolerance compound dies used in our most demanding projects.

In-House Heat Treating. We perform our own heat treating to harden our tool steel dies. By controlling the heating and cooling cycles on-site, we ensure our tools reach the optimal Rockwell hardness for maximum longevity and edge retention without the wait times of an outside heat treater.

Rapid Prototype Development. Because our tool makers work directly with our production team, we can move from a CAD drawing to a completed tool in record time. This agility is a major advantage for customers needing first-article samples or quick-turn prototypes.

Precision Maintenance and Repair. High-volume production can be hard on tooling. With our in-house capabilities, we can pull a die for sharpening or repair and have it back in the press within hours, minimizing downtime and keeping your project on schedule.
