Nylon Plastic Washers
Nylon (polyamide) is a common engineering plastic — tough, fatigue-resistant, and a strong electrical insulator at modest cost. Cannon Gasket die-cuts and machines custom nylon washers in Nylon 6, Nylon 6/6, and reinforced grades for fastener load distribution, electrical isolation, and general industrial use. Nylatron and Nylon MDS designate the molybdenum-disulfide-filled grades, and nylon offers low permeability to gases.

Properties of Nylon plastic washers
Cannon Gasket cuts Nylon plastic washers to your drawing. Good resistance to oils, greases, fuels, and most organic solvents. Not recommended for strong acids or prolonged exposure to high humidity (absorbs moisture).
Nylon tolerances and customization
Standard dimensional tolerances on Nylon plastic washers land around ±0.010" to ±0.015" on OD and ID, depending on material thickness and profile. Tighter tolerances are available on selected grades. Cannon Gasket cuts Nylon to custom profiles in-house and matches lead times to your production volume. PSA backing, pad printing, custom packaging, and kitting are all on the menu when you need them.
How Nylon Performs
- Tough — excellent impact and fatigue resistance. - Strong electrical insulator. - Good chemical resistance to oils, fuels, alkalis (not strong acids). - Available in Nylon 6, Nylon 6/6, glass-reinforced, and molybdenum-disulfide-filled grades.
Common Washer Applications
Fastener load-distribution washers, electrical insulator washers under bolt heads, plastic shaft and pulley washers, automotive trim and accessory washers, appliance and industrial machinery washers, and any application requiring toughness with electrical isolation.
Versatility and Strength
Nylon is the versatile engineering plastic that purchasing managers reach for when an application needs more strength than polyethylene but does not justify the cost of PEEK or Delrin. See the deep dive on the versatility and strength of nylon washers for application examples.
When to Choose Another Material
For lower moisture absorption and tighter dimensional stability, Delrin (Acetal). For aggressive chemical contact, PTFE. For higher temperature, PEEK.
Manufacturing Methods
Die-cut and compound-die-cut for thin gauges. CNC-machining
Nylon grades
Die-cut from Nylon 6 and Nylon 6/6, including glass-filled nylon, moly-filled nylon, Nylon MDS, and Nylatron.
