Sealing components for aerospace

Aerospace OEMs and tier suppliers need precision sealing components that survive temperature extremes, aggressive fluids, vibration, and the documentation requirements of flight hardware. Cannon Gasket supplies custom gaskets, washers, O-rings, EMI shields, and Kapton insulators for commercial, defense, and space programs.

Where aerospace sealing shows up

  • Fuel system gaskets and O-rings (Viton, fluorosilicone)
  • Avionics enclosure EMI/RFI shielding
  • Environmental and door seals
  • Fire-retardant insulation gaskets (Nomex)
  • Aerospace hydraulic and pneumatic seals
  • Wire harness grommets and strain relief components

Aerospace Sealing and Insulation Applications

Fuel system seals run in fluorosilicone or Viton to handle jet fuel, AvGas, and rocket fuel exposure, while Viton and Nitrile cover hydraulic fluid systems. For high-temperature electrical insulation in avionics and engine controls, Cannon cuts Kapton, Nomex, and phenolic to drawing. EMI and RFI shielding for shielded enclosures uses conductive elastomer gaskets. Silicone handles cryogenic seals in liquid-oxygen and liquid-hydrogen-adjacent service, where it stays serviceable at low temperature. Sponge and elastomer pads provide vibration damping for instrument mounts and panel sealing, protecting sensitive flight hardware from shock and resonance.

Materials We Supply for Aerospace

Cannon stocks fluorosilicone, Viton, silicone, Buna-N, EPDM, Kapton, Nomex, phenolic, G-10 and FR-4, conductive silicone, expanded PTFE, and MIL-spec compounds. Each material is matched to its sealing role, from fuel and hydraulic resistance to high-temperature insulation, EMI shielding, and cryogenic service. Parts are fabricated to AMS, ZZ, and military drawing requirements, so a customer callout maps directly to a qualified compound and a controlled cut.

Production and Quality

Cannon runs an ISO 9001 certified quality system, with a Class 10,000 (ISO 7) clean room available for sensitive flight hardware. Part identification is applied to MIL-STD-130 by pad printing, and every shipment carries lot-level traceability and compound documentation. AS9100-compatible documentation is available on programs that require it, with production handled within the existing ISO 9001 framework.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions from aerospace buyers.

Are you ISO 9001 certified?
Yes, ISO 9001:2015 certified. Documented quality management covers incoming material verification, in-process inspection, calibrated measurement, final inspection, non-conformance handling, corrective action, and full lot traceability. AS9100-ready for aerospace, with MIL-spec and FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 / USP Class VI grades available on request.
Are you AS9100 certified?
We are AS9100-ready. ISO 9001 certified with the documented quality practices, first-article inspection reports, and lot traceability that aerospace buyers require. Full AS9100 certification is in scope for the next audit cycle.
Can you support ITAR-controlled programs?
We run US-based production with a US workforce and documented compliance practices for ITAR-controlled programs. Contact us for the specific export-control documentation your program requires.
Do you serve general industrial OEMs?
Yes. Automotive, Electronics, Industrial Controls, HVAC, Plumbing, Irrigation, Pool & Spa, and Marine programs all run custom gaskets and washers through our Fontana facility. JIT, VMI, and Kanban replenishment available on ongoing programs.
Which materials do aerospace customers specify most?
Silicone and Fluorosilicone for fuel systems, Viton for chemical and hydraulic lines, Kapton polyimide for high-temperature electrical isolation, Nomex paper for thermal barriers, and conductive silicone for EMI shielding on avionics.
Which regulated industries do you serve?
Aerospace (AS9100-ready), Medical & FDA (ISO 7 clean room, USP Class VI), Food & Beverage (FDA 21 CFR 177.2600), Oil & Gas (chemical-resistant elastomers), and Defense (US-based production, MIL-spec compounds).
How fast do you return a quote?
Most RFQs come back within one business day. Simple profile updates to an existing tool quote same-day. Send a drawing, DXF, or competing part number and our engineering team reviews material, tolerance, and volume before pricing.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Minimums depend on the part and material. We cut prototype and first-article quantities for engineering evaluation, then scale up to production volumes from the same tooling. For high-volume programs we run JIT, VMI, and Kanban replenishment out of Fontana, California.
What should I send with an RFQ?
Ideal: a drawing or DXF, material spec (or compound family), estimated annual volume, and any regulatory callouts (FDA, USP Class VI, AS9100, MIL-spec). If you only have a sample or a part number from a competing supplier, send that and we will reverse-engineer the spec before quoting.
What are typical lead times?
Prototype and first-article parts usually ship in 5-10 business days. Production runs from existing tooling are 2-3 weeks depending on volume and material lead time. Rush and expedite options available on a case-by-case basis.
